CLEMENTINE’S CREAMERY: #TheGreatStLouisFreezeOff
A local pitch to a mom-and-pop ice cream shop. One handwritten scroll full of concepts. An idea that put the best St. Louis ice cream up against the best St. Louis custard, all during the 2017 Winter Classic — when two of hockey’s biggest rivals would go head-to-head at Busch Stadium.
A letter from Clementine's Creamery to Ted Drewes Custard, to be published in the local newspaper.
---
Dear Mr. Drewes,
Or can we call you Ted?
The good people of St. Louis sure are something special. There’s a burning love for their city so deeply ingrained in their born-and-raised DNA that nothing, not even a move halfway across the world, could shake it out.
But what truly defines a St. Louisan? Their love of rivalry.
Blues, Hawks.
Cards, Cubs.
Rams, 49ers.
IMO’s Pizza, everything else.
And so, Ted, in the spirit of these great rivalries, we invite you to a rivalry of our own.
On this day, January 2nd, as the Winter Classic rages around us, we at Clementine’s Creamery challenge you to a duel.
Clementine’s vs. Ted Drewes.
Ice Cream vs. Custard.
And to the winner? The title of “St. Louis’ Finest Frozen Treat.”
St. Louis has long been a custard town. And that’s fine and good.
But a new frozen era is upon us.
An era of cream.
Clementine’s cream.
Let the bowl games begin.
Best,
Clem
